Master The Table Tennis Game

Also known as ping pong, Table tennis is an indoor game that is played by two or sometimes four players that hit a very small, light ball back and forth using bats. The surface used to play the game is usually raised to the height of a normal table and is made of wood. A net divides the table into two sided and these depict the different sides where the two players or four incase of a doubles match play from. The game is played in the Olympics and is played all over the world and has different competitions.

The bat used to hit the ball is usually covered with a thin sheet of rubber but is made of wood. If the ball being served hit the net but proceeds to the other half, it is called a net-in or let. This necessitates that the serve be repeated. However if the ball hits the net and remains in the half of the server, it is a lost serve and the opponent if then given the chance to serve.

A point is earned when the server serves the ball and the opponent faults. Other recognized faults include if the ball bounces more than once on the same side, hitting the ball twice, if the ball does not land on the opponent’s half once it is served among others. Design Tips For The Squeamish Decorator

When you look around your living room, it may not be offensive or gaudy, but does it lack character? Perhaps you’ve had the same paint colors for years, and the accent cushions on the sofa have seen better days. You may have considered renovating, but just thinking about it gets you discouraged.

Break your redecorating project into these small steps and before you know it, your room will be transformed. These ideas will give you a room that has a sense of style, but still warm, inviting and usable. For our purpose here, we’ll be jazzing up a living room containing furniture in neutral shades.

1. Empty the room as much as possible. You want to begin with a blank canvas.

2. Don’t be scared of color – it’s one of the quickest ways to wake up a tired decorating scheme. Try a gray-blue shade that changes with different lighting. Watch the walls transform from day to night.

3. When choosing furniture and accents, begin with items you already have. They may be currently in use in another room, or stored away, but it’s time to bring them out and give them a new look. For this project we will use a beige sofa.

4. Choose accent pillows that blend the wall colors with the sofa. When choosing shades, think about those that you’re drawn to, have seen in magazines or showrooms, or even in your own closet.

5. Move the furniture around and you’ll be inspired by the fresh look. Try arranging the seating opposite the entry for that extra “wow” when you enter the room. Add a small patterned chair with ottoman in complimentary colors.

6. Add a dramatic “something” on the wall behind the sofa. A piece of art is the conventional choice, but for something different, try using a mirror with a stylish frame to add depth and enhance lighting. If you do opt for the painting, consider 3 smaller pieces instead of a single large one. Perhaps you could make your own by enlarging black and white family photos and having them framed and matted.

7. Place a long wood Table against an empty wall and decorate. Place matching Lamps at either end, a large floral arrangement, just off center, and add a few small ornaments or picture frames in the middle. You may have to play with this to get it right by adding and removing articles to create a look that is pleasing to the eye and not cluttered. Complement the blue walls with a dark shade of wood stain on the table.

8. Add a couple of straight back chairs off the corner of the table or a comfy big chair to create an additional zone or seating area.

9. Change some of your accents throughout the year to add interest. In the summer, bring out the photos of the family vacation at the beach. In the spring add vases of fresh tulips for a blast of color. If you repeat that color here and there, it keeps the eye moving throughout the room.

10. Try adding drapes with different textures, such as a shimmering fabric similar to the walls. Ideally, a gray-blue with beige would look amazing.

11. Stand back and take a look at the results. If it seems like something is still missing, look for areas that need a shot of color or some extra accessorizing. You may also want to re-analyze the furniture placement.

Faux Tiffany Lampshade?

I want to make a faux Tiffany lampshade for my floor lamp. I am going to use Gallery Glass. What I like to know is where I can get a plastic or glass lampshade to use. Do craft stores have them?

Try your local Lowe’s in the lighting department. I doubt that craft stores would carry this item. Sounds like a great idea. Wish you could post the finished picture on here. Maybe you could put pix on CraigsList under general merchandise???

This is hot news. The $700 Billion Bailout has been passed. The world is saved. Well, maybe America is, but Europe looks to be in even worse shape and without the tools to fix their problems.

Still, once again I have to applaud the U.S. Treasury, Members of Congress, the SEC and the President for giving more work to that great labor force in America, America’s lawyers.

Of course, I’m referring to the $700 Billion dollar bailout, less commonly referred to as the Troubled Asset Relief Program or TARP as it will soon be known by even small children when they study how America became bankrupt saving companies from declaring bankruptcy.

Why will this create more work for corporate lawyers? One word. Regulations. This is the era of deregulation that led to Enron, $180/barrel gasoline, and heating oil too expensive for the average person to buy to heat their home. Then there is that other little mess deregulation led to. The global mortgage and financial credit crisis.

With regulations now coming into force in the corporate and banking world like a hurricane, those carefree days corporations enjoyed until now are gone. Once those laws are passed, they will have to be deciphered, enforced, avoided, fought over, analyzed, scrutinized, watered down or strengthened and almost certainly challenged in the courts.

We are witness to the start of the greatest passage of regulatory laws to govern corporations and banks the world has ever seen. As soon as Congress returns from their campaigning for the November elections, you can count on Congress and State legislators as well to begin looking for donkeys to pin the tail of blame on for this mess. And once the legislators believe they fully understand how we got into this mess, they will pass the laws they believe will keep us from ever getting in this mess again.

And it won’t stop there. With the financial crisis in the U.S. having spread to Europe, Asia and most of the rest of the world, those countries will follow suit with probably even stricter regulations.

For an international corporate lawyer, this is like Christmas in September. At large law firms around the world, lawyers are sickened like everyone else at what this global crisis is doing to individuals around the world, including themselves and many of their staff, who don’t know how they will pay their mortgage, put food on the Table, or buy gasoline. TARP, as we will soon all be calling the bailout, may not even accomplish a darn thing. Only one thing is certain. Governments around the world will be passing new laws by the truckload, and lawyers will be called upon to understand them.

3. Fast loading pages. Tables slow down the loading of your pages because the spider has to crawl through each Table. If your tables are nested inside each other your page will load even more slowly. Designing CSS-based web pages will speed up the loading of your pages considerably because the styles are all contained in one style sheet.

4. Small file size. CSS will reduce the file size of your html document. If you look at a web page that is designed with CSS you will notice that the size is very small compared to one designed with lots of tables. This also helps reduce load times.

5. Reduce clutter. CSS allows you to get rid of a lot of extraneous html code therefore making your site code neater and cleaner. This makes it easy to alter the code if you need to make edits.

6. Eliminate javascript. Many people surf the web with javascript turned off because they don’t want to be vulnerable to viruses or allow pop-ups. This means that the beautiful javascript navigation you produced will not
be seen. You can often achieve the same affect with CSS navigation. These allow for rollovers and other pretty affects and are much more user friendly.

7. Accessibility. If you use CSS2′s aural properties it provides information to non-sighted users and voice-browser users. The CSS2 “media types” (used with @media rules) allow authors and users to design style sheets that will cause documents to render more appropriately for certain devices such as braille devices, speech synthesizers, or tty (text telephone) devices.

8. Save time. CSS will allow you to design your site much faster than tables because there are some styles you can use for every site. I store “often used” CSS snippets in a special file where I can easily access them for any site I design.

9. Save money. CSS will shorten the project development process and eliminate design obstacles that occur from using tables. If designing many web sites you will be able to use the same style sheets or just make a few modifications to them. You will still charge for the design project but it won’t take as long as when using tables thus making you more money in a shorter time period.

10. Flexibility of design. You can use pixel precision in your web site designs. By adjusting the margins and padding of the CSS you can easily adjust the position of your content. You can also create very modern designs that can’t be duplicated with tables. For example you can use a background image for a header then place your content over it using the H1 tag for better page optimization.
